Weekly Chronicles

Yeah, I know, I told you I was finished for the week. But I just realized I didn’t post my first two weeks of Project 366 Weekly Chronicles, a weekly challenge at Club Scrap based upon a Photo a Day. As you probably know, I undertook this project in 2009 and 2010. Never got around to scrappin’ it. This year, I am determined to do that. However, to make it a bit easier on me, I am going to try to do it digitally. May or may not ever get around to printing out the pages. So without further ado, here are the submissions for the first two weeks of 2012. Both use Club Scrap digital kits. Template for the first one is a freebie download. The second week I finally caved in to Becky Higgins Project Life and purchased a template set at Jessica Sprague. Love it.

It’s Beginning to Look a Lot Like Christmas

Last challenge of the night and weekend. Paperartistsonline has a Monthly Scrapbook challenge also. This month the subject is Holiday. So I recreated my digi layout of a couple of weeks ago on paper. Because I didn’t really care for the digital version. This one is on DCWV Merry Christmas Paper stack and uses Thickers as embellishment. Thanks for looking.

Train the Body

This layout is about EZ’s 2010 performance in the American River 50 run.  It was created for another challenge over at Club Scrap. This one is based upon a sketch provided by Brenda. What a Ride!

Julie over at Club Scrap is hostess for the Monthly Challenge. She suggested a Winter-inspired layout for January. I created this one on Orient Express cardstock, using OE digital stamp images and a snowflake border cut on Silhouette and painted with Snow Cap Adirondack Paint Dabber. Train sticker is from my ancient Mrs. Grossman stash (will I ever use that up?). Sketch is based upon Week Two/Sketch Two from Double Take class by Nic Howard and May Flaum at Big Picture Classes.
Layout features photos taken on a December train trip with my Mom to Reno, through a little bit of snow. Not as much snow as I was hoping to see but certainly illustrates Winter Wonders in the Sierra Nevada. I apologize for the photography but I couldn't get a sharp photo without flash and with flash, you can obviously see hot spots on the photos.. Thanks for looking.

Coffee and Cream Double Take Sketches

Still working on my Double Take sketches from the class with May Flaum and Nic Howard. So I took my new Counterfeit Kit sent by Nancy and created two layouts today, faster than I have ever used product or a kit before in my entire scrappin’ life. Amazing. I also completed a card but didn’t get around to photographing it yet.

These layouts are based upon Week Four, Sketch 1 and 2 from the Big Picture Class. They are, obviously, just the base of the pages, without photos. Now to go through my photo stash and decide which photos to use. If you had the sketch, these layouts might make more sense to you.Once that decision is made, I can add titles and further embellishment. This has been a really fun way to step out of my Comfort Zone. Hope you enjoy looking at it.

Kissing

Our friend Hetty Sanders from the Netherlands posts a Monthly Technique Challenge at Club Scrap. This month she encouraged us to Kiss our stamps. This technique requires a fairly solid stamp which is inked and then “kissed” by another stamp to create a third image. I struggled a bit with it but here, finally is a card I created with my kissed image. Thanks for looking.

January Counterfeit Kit – Coffee and Cream

As reported on my friend Nancy’s blog, we have decided to play along with the Counterfeit Kit Club Challenge each month this year. The innovational idea behind this challenge is to create a “Counterfeit Kit” from your own stash thereby using the supplies you already own rather than buying new stuff for your ever-growing, never-dwindling stash. They choose a kit from a popular kit club (such as our beloved Club Scrap) and challenge you to create a "counterfeit kit", using just the supplies you already own.
Nancy and I chose to put own spin on it by preparing a kit for each other and challenging the other to create layouts and cards with that kit. I received my great kit Coffee and Cream in the mail yesterday and photographed it today. It is a box of delicious textures and goodies, including solid color cardstock, patterned papers from Bella Blvd, NRN Designs, K&Co. cardstock stickers, chipboard letters, some die cut bracket shapes and stamped images, along with a Cocoa Daisy cupcake stamp and a chock full baggie of fibers, buttons and flowers, etc. She also included some rubber stamps from Operation Write Home which finally leaves me with no excuse to not get busy on making cards for our heroes away from home.
Our kits were based upon an “inspiration kit” from Cocoa Daisy called Sunshine and Snowflakes. We agreed to focus on the color scheme in preparing our kits. In addition to the kits, CKC also provides other inspiration to encourage using our stash, including a sketch suggestion. I hope to try to utilize that sketch, as well as the ones I am still working on from the Big Picture class called Double Take with Nic Howard and May Flaum.
What a great way to encourage one another to Use Your Stash and help a friend create something that might be a little out of her comfort zone. As Nancy’s DH says, we are Cutting Edge.
