28 Sketches - Day 7 - Emily

On to Day 7 of my class. I chose photos of Bill with an emu at Sunshine Plantation. This male emu named Emily (for some strange reason) took a shine to our Bill. And I think Bill returned the affection. Layout created on Refresh the Soul kit from Club Scrap with red accents from the Gratitude kit. Kraft cardstock base was sprayed with Melted Chocolate Dylusions (my first time using them) using old sticker letters as a mask for the title and then outlined with a pen (inspiration from May Flaum at Camp Scrap). Journaling is computer generated from the trip diary. Thanks for looking.

28 Sketches - Days 4 and 5

The sketch for Day 4 lent itself well to a grouping of photos of Mallory at one month old. I used cardstock from Club Scrap's Lotus Pond kit with accents from another oldie kit called Tiny Treasures. 

And here's a close up photo of some of the details: inked doily and buttons. Inspiration for these clusters goes to May Flaum and Shimelle Laine. All cardstock edged with Adirondack SnowCap Dabber.

For the Day 5 sketch, I continued my journey in New Zealand with photos from our first day in that country. The layout is built on a Recollections paper collection called Union Square which I believe is unique to Michael's. I was tickled to find the sheet which says Great Southern since this is just about as far south as I'll ever be. I am really enjoying the scrapping of this trip from long ago. Reading the diary and looking at the photos is bringing back so many good memories. This layout had enough going on, being so text-heavy and with all that sparkle, that I didn't feel any further embellishment was necessary. Thanks for looking.

The layout for Day 6 is on my table awaiting text and a bit of embellishment. I still can't believe I'm keeping up with this, although I'm a piker compared to other students of this class who will have layouts for Day 7 up already before I even get out of bed in the morning. Oh, I should repeat here that it's a class from Big Picture Classes called 28 Days of Sketches. And for my friend who asked what I listen to when scraping, here's a link.

You Can Do Anything

Well, this layout is certainly a departure for me in my scrappin' style. In addition, in my everlovin' multi-tasking tradition, it fulfills many inspiration challenges, not the least of which is May Flaum at Camp Scrap. Early in Camp, she challenged us to use sprays on our layouts. This is a supply I have not used much in the past. I applied it to American Crafts white cardstock using Mr. Huey's Spray in Pinstripe through a Julie Balzer stencil called Pointy Circles. After that dried, I applied 6x6 papers (Basic Grey's What's Up) from my Simon Says Stamp May card kit based upon a sketch from Sketch Support. Inspired by a challenge from Glitter Girl Shimelle Laine at Two Peas, I used both ribbon and washi tape on the layout as my borders. All of the remaining elements, in addition to the stamped images,  are also from the SSS May card kit with the exception of the small doily (which was also a challenge from May's Camp Scrap in addition to a challenge to use a kit to create a layout). The doily is from the SSS June kit. I am loving doilies. 

Here is a detail shot of some of the buttons and doily I used. This is very new to me. And I am loving it.

3 Looks, 1 Stamp – Paint Dabber

This is the third card made for the 3 Looks, 1 Stamp challenge at May Flaum’s Camp Scrap. Again, all materials are from Club Scrap. I used cardstock from the Raku kit. And the stamp is from Papillon. The bling is from my stash. All edges inked with Seedless Preserves Distress Ink.
For this Look, I pounced an Adirondack Pearl Paint Dabber onto my craft sheet which already had a coating of Mowed Lawn Distress Ink and  carefully stamped the butterfly stamp into that mess. I then applied the painted stamp onto dark cardstock. The result is a shimmery look. I was quite happy with the results. Thanks for looking.

Scrappin' at the Island

This layout was created for the monthly Sketch Relay challenge over at Club Scrap. All materials are Club Scrap (from Raku and Dream in Color kits) along with Christmas red Stickles for embellishment. I am also posting it at Big Picture Scrapbooking in May Flaum's Camp Scrap gallery as it uses a least favorite piece of paper from a kit. This is another layout about my fun day in San Jose at Scrapbook Island. Thanks for looking.

Beautiful Beginnings

An appropriate title for the another grouping of cards created from one of my new Simon Says Stamp kits. This one is from June and is called Beautiful Beginnings. I was able to put together three cards from this kit before Camp was closed for the day. 

I still have many cards to make from each of these kits. On the top right card, I incorporated the packaging in the card. Going green. Thanks for looking.

Simon Says Stamp Card Kit

While at Camp Scrap at the Island in San Jose, I also finally broke into my new kits from Simon Says Stamp. I made these six cards with the May kit called You can Do Anything. It was fun playing with such fun and fresh materials. Very different from the style I have used for years. I am enjoying doing something a little bit new for me.

Camp Scrap

Well, I finally got busy with May Flaum's Camp Scrap. On the very first day of camp, she challenged us to use a technique she calls Confetti Burst. As always, I am multi-tasking by using this technique on a sketch by Becky Fleck's Page Maps for June and finally breaking into my Capricieux Counterfeit Kit by Squirrely Nancy. I couldn't resist using photos from my IRL visit with May at Scrapbook Island in San Jose along with quite a group of my West Coast Scrap friends.

In addition to the Confetti Burst, which is entirely out of my comfort zone, I also outlined my title letters with a black pen which is a little tip I learned from May. Not a big deal but it does add a bit of an extra touch.
