While on our recent visit to Newport, Oregon, I finally photographed the yellow submarine at the Hatfield Marine Science Center. Can you imagine my childish delight in this little beauty???

The Baptist

This is a tiny sneak peak for the Wisteria Blog Hop post showing up later this morning. As I only have the digital version of Wisteria, I dug back into my mighty paper stash and found the kit called Risen which also features Wisteria prominently. Decided I could make it work. I added mats from the Castaway kit and inked all edges with Shaded Lilac Distress Ink. This layout covers part of the road trip my sister Chrissie and I took in September. On our way back to the Sacramento Valley from the Coast, we passed through San Juan Bautista and took a look at the Mission perched on the San Andreas Fault. Ooooh, scary. Scenes from the Hitchcock thriller Vertigo were also filmed here. Even scarier. I am also submitting this to the Club Scrap Sketch Relay challenge for this month. Thanks for looking.

Do Not Try This At Home

This is a digi layout I put together for the April Monthly Sketch Relay over at Club Scrap. When I started it, I did not yet have the paper kit for Get The Picture, the PSL 2013 kit. It took me OVER three weeks to finish this thing. I am not crazy about it but I have invested sooo much time in it that I'm not abandoning it now. I just don't get this digi thing. I figured I would just re-make it with these photos and the kit once it arrived. I still plan to do that but I am posting this digi version in the challenge today. I do like this sketch. Just not happy with my digi results. I attempted to duplicate the look of the fibers using the filmstrips that came in the kit.

Airlie Beach

Our northernmost point on the trip to Australia was Airlie Beach, a resort town. It was a highlight of the trip for reasons which will eventually be documented in my scrapbook. For now, these are my photos of our visit to Airlie Beach and Whitsunday Island Resort. Created on Castaway kit by Club Scrap. Used Distress Stain in Shabby Shutters along with Smooch spray to make some art media sheets to cut up as mats for PSL. This was also posted for the monthly Sketch Relay challenge. Pretty as a Peacock

Another submission for PSL. This one is a real paper layout. Ever the imaginative gal, thinking out of the box  (ha), I used Club Scrap's Peacock kit for these photos taken at Casa de Fruta in Hollister. The challenge this week is to use a Club Scrap stencil. On the left side, I used the Peacock stencil with Ranger Seedless Preserves Distress Ink. On the right side, I used a Pearl Paint Dabber. I really like the look I got with the paint. This layout was also submitted for the Monthly Sketch Relay challenge. I like this sketch. Simple but sweet.

Sweet

Created this layout for the Club Scrap Monthly Sketch Relay challenge. Took me all month to do it but I FINALLY, finally finished it. How can it take sooo long to put a title and journalling on a layout? Let me count the ways. 

Anyway, these photos were taken when my sister Chrissie and I attended West Coast Scrap's Scramp Camp with Farley (along with many other Club Scrappers) in Campbell, CA, in September. On the way, we made a stop in Livermore to see the World's Longest Burning Lightbulb (yes, indeed, we did) and on that same stop, we introduced Farley to the fun sport of Letterboxing. We also took her to one in Campbell. Funnily enough, both letterboxes were located indoors in sugar shacks. One was called Let 'Em Eat Cake and the other was Psycho Donuts. 

We feared Farley would turn to a pillar of stone when we took her into those dens of iniquity. However, we all survived without having an on-the-sport heart attack. Of course, Chrissie and I broke down and bought one cupcake but ALL resisted the Psycho Donuts. 

I used base from Earth & Herbs, purple from Sonoma and pink from Jubilee. Mats from Perfect Ten. Title cut with Quickutz Blossom font. Cupcakes punched with Martha Stewart punch and Stickled. Journaling computer generated. All edges inked with Dusty Concord DI. Love this sketch. Thanks for looking.

Christmas with Mallory

Ohmygosh, I haven't made a layout since August. I can't believe I have allowed so much time to pass before making another one. After Mallory left this week, I was feeling blue so I made a layout about our Christmas time together. This one was made for the Sketch Relay over at Club Scrap. I used papers from the Michael Strong Joyful kit along with some Thickers purchased at Big Lots in Atascadero. Thanks for looking.

This layout was created for the Monthly Sketch Relay at Club Scrap. I used the required sketch from Come Sail Away on a base of brown print and solid from a Michael Strong/Club Scrap collaboration called Whirligig. I also used the coordinating Michael Strong stamps. Love his stuff. The photo mats, etc. are from the Mirror, Mirror kit.
This layout is about our visit with the Durkins in 1989 to the thermal pools in Rotorua, New Zealand as part of our three week journey. That was such a great trip and I am finally getting around to making a scrapbook about it. I have overcome my perfectionistic fear that each page absolutely had to be the best scrapbook layout ever. More important to get ‘er done so we can enjoy our memories. Thank goodness I kept a detailed daily journal on the trip so all the details are carefully preserved. As I make each layout, I type out the entry for the appropriate day. For once in my life, I was organized. Thanks for looking.

Scrappin' at the Island

This layout was created for the monthly Sketch Relay challenge over at Club Scrap. All materials are Club Scrap (from Raku and Dream in Color kits) along with Christmas red Stickles for embellishment. Club Scrap Sketch Relay

My little sister Chrissie is the hostess this month for the Sketch Relay challenge over at Club Scrap. This month she has chosen a sketch from our Retreat 2010 kit called Connections. We are also still in the midst of PSL and the challenge this week is to make a monochromatic layout. I chose some of my old (1998) photos from Sedona as I slowly whittle away at scrappin' that Southwest trip (before I take another one). This layout depicts the Catholic Church carved into the red rocks overlooking Sedona. More photos of hubby with our little wolf pup Denni. I used the Comfort Zone kit for this one. Eclectic Garden

This layout was created for the monthly Sketch Relay at Club Scrap. It is one of several about our December visit with Mom to Cornerstone in Sonoma. It's an eclectic garden (as the title states) full of lots interactive sculptures and places for Seniors to step back in time and feel a bit playful. All three of us acted like kids again. It was a fun day with beautiful weather.

All supplies from Club Scrap with the exception of a sticker. The paper from Dream in Color. Embellishments are the Pink brads from Bistro, sticker from stash (Special Moments) and the doodads from Avant Garde. The mirror print on the left was cut with a graphic design on the Silhouette digital cutter. On the right, I designed the title right onto a mat in Silhouette. Thanks for looking.
