Happy Birthday, Nancy

Loving this card. I shamelessly copied one from the Design Team at Papertrey Ink but if it ain't broke, don't fix it. Used Colorbox Inks from Stephanie Barnard which are my latest obsession. Sequins cut from Shimmer Sheetz using a die from My Favorite Things.

I don't know what it is I love so much about this card. The colors, the feathers, the bit of sparkle? But I do love it. This card was made as a birthday card for my good friend, Squirrley Nancy.

World Card Making Day

Today is World Card Making Day and I couldn't let it pass without completing a card. Over the past several days, I've made many parts and pieces of cards while visiting with my Squirrely friend Nancy. She taught me a few techniques and graciously allowed me to use many of her stamps and inks. However, this particular card was created once I returned home with a Magenta stamp I've been itching to use and a watercolor technique I've been trying to learn. The stamped image was colored with Gelatos applied wet with a brush. The sentiment stamp is from The Stamps of Life. Sequins were cut with a die from My Favorite Things. Thanks for looking. Make A Card Monday

As I've mentioned in the past few months, I am trying to return my focus to scrapbooking. I've done quite well at it so far but my card making is falling behind. So I've decided to have my own Make a Card Monday where I will try to get a few cards made to put in my stash for holidays and birthdays. Unfortunately, this week, I was rather tired and cranky and just didn't have my mojo. But I stuck with it and here is the result. I am posting this over at Paperartistsonline for the monthly card sketch challenge as well as at My Favorite Things Get Sketchy challenge MFTWSC174. Wishing You A Snappy Birthday

As Sketch Hostess over at Paperartistsonline, I post a monthly card sketch for the crafters to use if they so desire. It took me all month in March to create my sample but I finally got my act together and made a card from the sketch. It's not super-close to the sketch but I DID use the sketch as my base. I have two not-so-little-anymore girls with birthdays on April 1. I made them both the same card. This feels like cheating but they don't know each other and I'm really really really trying to stay focused on my scrapbooking this year so I think it's okay. 

I used paper from Doodlebug and a stamp and camera dies from My Favorite Things. A little Stickles on the heart. And it's CAMERA month for me so this fits that goal as well. Thanks for looking and for playing along with me.

Capture the Good Times

Our third assignment in Monica Bradford's class is to create a layout with a diagonal design using pocket cards. Still whittling away at my one lonely set from We R Memory Keepers called Chalkboard. (Have no fear, I have now purchased several more kits so you should see some variety in the future assignments). I layered them onto a base paper from Dear Lizzy Lucky Charm. The stamps and die are from My Favorite Things. Photo of Mallory and me taken on the couch in Scottsdale when she settled onto my lap for a nap. Still my little girl. 

You Make My Heart Sing

The second week of Scrapbooking Outside the Pocket is well underway. The first assignment this week was to use pocket cards to make a grid design. I made my own cards by stamping with a Hero Arts stamp onto white cardstock using Distress Inks. The paper base and the text card are from Dear Lizzy Lucky Charm. I cut the love heart with a die from My Favorite Things. No journaling per se since the facing page will be a pocket page with more photos and lots of descriptive text. Made this one for Sketch # 163 at My Favorite Things Get Sketchy Challenge. Die for the denim pocket and the stamped image are from My Favorite Things. Embossing folder is from Sizzix. Same sketch #157 from My Favorite Things. You know, the one where I missed the deadline. Cardstock and stamp on heart balloon are Club Scrap. The rest is My Favorite Things.

Operation Penguin

Another card for Operation Write Home and the General who has requested penguin cards for his troops. I used Sketch #158 from the My Favorite Things Wednesday Stamp Club and paper from a 6x6 pad in my stash. The penguin was pieced using the Stampin' Up Owl punch. That little guy is so darned cute. The sentiment stamp is from My Favorite Things. Thanks for strolling by.

Under the Weather

As usual, a day late and a dollar short. I made this one for the Wednesday Stamp Club Sketch ##157 at My Favorite Things. Once I photographed it and prepared for posting, I realized I missed the deadline. AGAIN!!! But no worries, it's still a nice card and I'm still sticking with my balloon challenge. The stamps are from My Favorite Things with the exception of hot air balloon and cardstock, all from Club Scrap. A bit of Stickles, too. Thanks for looking.

Merry Kissmas Redux

Another card made using the Operation Write Home Sketch #202. Still working on that Simon Says Stamp kit Warm Winter Wishes. Hearts were cut with a die set from My Favorite Things. Stickles were used, of course. It wouldn't be Christmas without Stickles. 

Wonky Tree

Yep, we're still working on the Simon Says Stamp December card kit. I got my inspiration from Lin of Sending Hugs who made a wonky tree with scraps. Mine is a little bit different but I am quite happy with it. I guess I like wonky things. The star was cut with a Stephanie Barnard Sizzix die. The circles from dies from My Favorite Things. Everything else is from the kit except for scraps from my stash. Thanks for looking.

Merriest Christmas Wishes

This is the first card I made this year for the Holiday Season. It's a direct copy of one made by Farley using paper from a recent Simon Says Stamp kit and my old Martha Stewart cardinal punch. Apertures were cut with circle dies from My Favorite Things. Stickles may have been applied. Thank you for looking.

Happy Birthday, Farley

Another October birthday, this one for my good friend Farley. I had another idea in my head for her card involving a Silhouette cut but had technical difficulties. THEN I saw this card by Nichole Magouirk and had to copy it. However, Nichole used supplies from the upcoming Simon Says Stamp card kit whereas my supplies are all various stamps and dies from My Favorite Things. I used Wild Honey and Spiced Marmalade Distress Ink for the stamping and edges. Hope she likes it. Happy Birthday, Girlfriend!!!

Happy Birthday, Saralee

Today my good friend Saralee in Pompano Beach is celebrating her birthday. She is starting a new story in her life and I felt this card would be an appropriate greeting for her at this time. Still using the Simon Says Stamp Season of Thanks card set along with a Memory Box balloon die and a sentiment stamp from My Favorite Things. I'm sure I copied the ideas on this card from someone on the web but unfortunately, I can't credit her. Hope Saralee has a wonderful day. Thanks for looking!

Birds of a Feather

One last card before my journey to South Dakota. I wanted to make a card for the current sketch from My Favorite Things. I deviated a bit but I think it works. I used papers from various past card kits from Simon Says Stamp and my newest dies from MFT including Homespun Birdhouse. Stamp is also from MFT. A little inking on the edges and some Stickles and it's good to go. Thanks for looking.

May the Odds Be Ever in Your Favor

Here's a little card I made based upon a sample provided by Jennifer McGuire in her recent Onlinecardclass. I copied hers very closely with the exception of the sentiment. This is a birthday card for my bestie Teresa and we are both fans of The Hunger Games. You know I had to use this sentiment on her card. We are eagerly awaiting release of the Catching Fire movie. The feathers and apertures were cut with dies from My Favorite Things. The stamp set is also from MFT. The feathers were colored with Distress Inks. Sequins and bling from my stash. It's a Good Day

Another card made for a sketch, this one from My Favorite Things. Unfortunately I missed the deadline for posting at MFT but here's the card anyway.

I used cardstock from the Immortal Love stack from DCWV on a Club Scrap card base. Stamp and Double Dot die from My Favorite Things. White Pigment ink pad from Club Scrap. All other edging with Distress Inks. A little bling and it's done. Love the look of these fairly new Chalkboard Greetings stamps from MFT. Thanks for stopping by to look at my stuff.

Thirty-eight years ago today at Zephyr Cove, Nevada, my hubby and I tied the knot. I wanted to make a fairly clean and simple anniversary card to give him. There isn't a lot of cohesiveness with this design but I really really really wanted to use some of the supplies I have been hoarding (er...I mean, purchasing) recently. This includes stamps from Papertrey Ink and My Favorite Things, along with a cute little camera die set from MFT as well. I enjoyed making the card. Hope he likes it as well. Thanks for looking.
