February March Challenge

This week the Club Scrap PSL Summer Camp challenge required that we use kits from February and March of any year. I realize this doesn’t mean much to you but these three layouts do qualify.

This layout shows a couple of the photos we took when we visited Roger and Maria at their cabin at 39 Mile Tract near Kyburz. It’s a beautiful location and we had a great time with them and the dogs. This layout used the Raku kit.

This layout is about our trip to San Rafael, in specific the Mex-Salvadoran restaurant where we had lunch. Good food in an out-of-the-way place. Now I can say I’ve eaten Salvadoran food. This layout was created with a kit called Passage of Time with a bit of Raku thrown in for good measure.

Uh, oh, another layout about food. These are just random shots of most of the places where we snacked or had meals during our trip to Cambria in April. This one was created from Castaway, Jubilee, Common Threads and Collections.

Stamp Your Art Out

This week’s challenge in the Club Scrap PSL Summer Camp is to use rubber stamps on your layouts. Here is what I accomplished this week:

This first layout is about my trip to Danville with Farley from the Pocket Area to scrap with our West Coast Scrap friends. It was our first time at a House Crop and we enjoyed the comraderie, walking, delicious food and inspiration.

These layouts are both from our April trip to Cambria. The one on the left shows many of the details we saw during our tour of Hearst Castle. The one on the right illustrates our visit to Eberle Winery in Paso Robles.

This one covers our unusual lunch at the Warehouse Café in Port Costa. That was a wonderful Funday that Roy and I won’t soon forget.

These last two cover our recent trip to Sonoma on a Funday. We attempted once again to visit the Mission but were thwarted in seeing the interior as it is closed on Mondays (due to budget cutbacks, of course). I suppose I am destined never to view the inside of that, the 21st and last Mission. While in Sonoma, we had a pleasant al fresco lunch in front of the Sonoma Cheese Factory.

I’m wondering how Club Scrap will challenge us next week. All layouts completed with Club Scrap supplies. Kits used include Birds of a Feather, Adobe, Sonoma, Arts N Crafts, Private Eye and Chapter One. Thanks for looking.

36 Years

Today is our 36th wedding anniversary so I made a card for my hubby. With all of the Summer Camp scrapping, I fear his card took a back seat. It’s simple but sweet and I’m sure he’d probably prefer simple over yet another card with a  butterfly. So this is what he gets.

I used Apothecary base and ribbon. The floss is from my stash. The hearts and panel (and interior panel) are from Love, Ink. I punched the hearts from paper I had printed of the delicious heart locket design. The interior is custom wording for my hubby so you can't see that. Apothecary and Love, Ink are both from Club Scrap.

Get your Fiber

Club Scrap’s PSL Summer Camp has once again begun. I am deep in the throes of making layouts to fit the various challenges. This week’s requirement was to use fibers on all layouts. Here are the layouts I posted for this week.

These are the oldest photos. Teresa’s birthday lunch at High Hand Conservatory in Loomis last August. It was my last time with Mallory before she headed off to Arizona for graduate school.

Next is a layout about Roy’s birthday celebration this February at Burgers and Brew in downtown Sacto. Both of his kids and their spouses were in attendance.

The next couple are from our trip to Cambria in April. This first one covers our stop at the James Dean Memorial Junction in Cholame. This is the site of James Dean’s fatal crash on September 30, 1955. It’s a lonely place now. I can’t imagine how lonesome it seemed in 1955.

While in Cambria, I noticed creative mailboxes everywhere we went so I had to document them. Of course.

Once we were home and I reviewed my photos of Hearst Castle, I discovered that I had taken quite a few of the lamps throughout our tour. Here is a sampling of some of them.

And this last one for this week is about our trip to Mission San Rafael last month. At this time, I still had one more to see. As you now know, I have now completed the Mission Trail.

All layouts completed with Club Scrap materials exclusively with the exception of the Magic Scraps flair buttons on the Happiness layout and the purple lace on the Illuminations layout, courtesy of Nancy, my Squirrely friend.

Happy Birthday, Sis!

Just a little card, created at the same time as the one for Fourth of July, for my little sister’s birthday. I won’t say what number it is but it’s my favorite number and there are two of them. Have a great day, Sis.

Cardstock used is all from Club Scrap. Kits used are Refresh blue and Americana red. The pennants are a blue from ??? (I can’t recall at the moment and the card is already across the country). The twine is from Martha Stewart. Stamp from Club Scrap’  Raku kit sand the stickers are ancient ones from my stash (USE YOUR STASH).

For those of you with Stampin' Up connections, I've heard there's a new double punch for pennant lovers. I cut mine with my trusty Silhouette. I'm sure Cricut users have access to a pennant shape also. Thanks for looking.

Windows to the World

I also neglected to post a recent layout used in the June Monthly Layout Sketch Challenge at Club Scrap. This one covers some cool paper sculptures Chrissie and I visited while waiting for our flight at Outagamie County Airport in Appleton, Wisconsin.

Club Scrap Monthly Card Sketch Challenge

I posted this card over at my other blog and just plain forgot to post it here on my scrappy blog. So Happy Seventh of July to you as well as a Merry Birthday to Ringer Starr, drummer extraordinaire.

This is my interpretation of the card sketch. I chose the Eight of Hearts from the ALCM deck, using Refresh blue and Americana red. The pennants are the dot paper from Gratitude (which I dearly love). The twine is from Martha Stewart. The stamp on the circle shape is from Fiesta. White edges are inked with Antique Linen Distress ink.

As you may have noticed, I’m taking a bit of a summer break from card making, Squirrely challenges and Grungy Mondays, however, I will soon be stepping up again with creating layouts, my first love. Club Scrap’s annual Summer Camp started yesterday so I will be creating layouts as fast as my little fingers will glue. I hope to put together quite a few so keep your fingers crossed for me. With bicycling and other summer activities, it may be difficult to keep up a good pace. But I am looking forward to getting back to doing some serious scrappin’.
