Had to make three different color ways. Hope you enjoy.

Another Challenge week draws to a close

Whew! Another week of PSL under our belts. I don’t know what I was thinking signing up for two teams because I simply cannot compete. Here are four more cards I whipped up right before the deadline for this week’s challenge: Art Medium. Only managed to eak out one layout this week. Next week, I intend to focus more on layouts and cut back on the cards. I seriously want to finish my Wisconsin scrapbook during PSL.

I set a goal to make Christmas cards all year, this year, to avoid that year-end pressure in mid-December. Here are four.

4ChristmasGatefold

Card base from Club Scrap (of course), the Framed Gatefold cards. The technique on the panels is Wrinkle Free Distress with the addition of homemade Perfect Pearl Spray and imprinted with inkjet digital images from Club Scrap’s Joyful kit. Text stamp from Retro kit. Snowflake brads from my ancient stash. Thanks for looking.

Squirrely Challenge – Faux Barn Wood

Faux Barn Wood

Another Squirrely Challenge with my friend Nancy. I am actually finished early this time. The technique is from the February 2011 Technique Junkies newsletter and is called Faux Barn Wood. It’s a cool technique and not too difficult, if you have a little patience or time, which I don’t. So I used a heat tool to dry it quickly. I’d like to try it again and allow the layers to dry naturally.

Club Scrap Cardstock: Apothecary card base, Gratitude red bird
Embellishments: Stamp used: Lotus Pond un-mounted stamp, bird cut with Silhouette, Magic Mesh
Challenge element: Technique Junkies Faux Barn Wood technique used on panel, Distress ink used on edges

Squirrely Challenge – Versamark Stencils

FishBoil

This is my long overdue Squirrely Challenge from my friend Nancy. This one is from the December 2010 Technique Junkies newsletter. All cardstock and stencils from Club Scrap.

Challenge element: Versamark stencil technique from Technique Junkies used on left side utilizing flames from Americana Lady Liberty stencil and embossing powders, Polynesian fish stencil used on right side with embossing powder

This was a wonderful experience for my sister Chrissie and me in Door County after a long day of photographing lighthouses. The fish boil was exciting and the Michigan Whitefish was melt-in-your-mouth delicious. Another memorable day on our trip to Wisconsin.

Supplies used: Club Scrap cardstock: Blues from Framed (Centennial design), Concrete Jungle and Varsity, yellow and orange from Rhapsody and stencils from Americana and Polynesian
Text: Titles on both sides with sticker letters from stash
Embellishments: Photo turns and fish trinket from Club Scrap

Liebster Blog

The Liebster Blog award is given to bring new blogs to light. It's a great way to share blogs that might not otherwise be seen.  I was picked by my new friend Nancy who shares her Squirrely Art with me and encourages me to grow in my art by issuing challenges for me to meet.

Here are some of the blogs I follow (and unashamedly copy on occasion):
Farley at BeadsPaperInk
Julie at Jujusfolly
Diana at Craftsandadventuresfromtheenns
Rachelle at Orezonia
and, of course, my little sister at making impressions

If you have been tagged and want to participate, create a post where you post the 'LOVE BLOG' image. Then choose 3 - 5 favourite blogs which you also link in your post.

Compendium of Curiosities #30 – Altered Metal with Paint

CCC30AlteredMetalwithPaint

Okay. We are up to Week 30 at the Compendium of Curiosities Challenge at Studio L3. The technique is Altered Metal with Paint on page 48 in Tim Holtz’s guide. Are you worn out yet? I am started to feel a little frayed.

For my Valentine I also used sketch MMSC #89 from Midnight Madness.

I realize this card is very similar to my Valentine posted last week, but it is, indeed, different, with several additional techniques used.

Supplies used: All cardstock from Club Scrap, (used red and pink scraps from Fizz,  Let Me Count The Ways, overskirt and border web ribbon is from Vogue, skirt belt is from Bistro). The dressform and pearl-lobed ovals were cut on my Silhouette. Glitter is  Sugar Cube from Martha Stewart.  The cracked glass embossing folder is from Tim Holtz through Sizzix.  Skirt is organza ribbon from stash. The Compendium Challenge is met on the dressform stand which is a Grungeboard hinge (thanks to sister Chrissie for that idea!) from Tim Holtz covered with metal flashing tape, colored with Bic Mark-it and Paint Dabber (Pearl) from Ranger. Also used Distress Inks from Ranger to alter the color of the cardstocks.

Thanks for looking.
